Home to some 150,000 residents, the various communities that make up Beit Shemesh have an average child population of close to 50%. With a large percentage of the population living well below the poverty line, this means that thousands of young children are severely lacking basic nutrition and face a real threat of compromised development.
Founded in 2019, Mifalos Chayim V'Chesed's Bread & Milk Distribution provides critical daily sustenance to children from impoverished homes whose parents lack the basic necessities. Assistance is provided to some 1,000 families through a weekly voucher card system that ensures the children of the home with a steady supply of critical nutrition, with many more applications waiting anxiously for sponsors.
